Count openings before choosing a kit size
List the doors and windows you want to monitor and decide where an indoor motion detector would be useful. Compare that plan with the included components. A kit label does not tell you whether every important opening in your home will be covered. Plan sensor placement around how people and pets move through the house.
Plan the response, not just the notification
Decide who will check an alarm, who should be contacted when you are away and who maintains device batteries. Optional Ring professional monitoring requires enrollment and a compatible subscription; Ring lists Canadian availability excluding Quebec. Check service eligibility for the installation address. Do not assume buying cameras alone activates alarm monitoring.
Check ongoing features before purchase
Confirm the current Canadian requirements for remote arming and cellular backup. They should not be treated as permanent included benefits of the hardware. This is the standard Alarm kit, not Alarm Pro with an integrated router. Separate video coverage can complement the sensors when you need to see the cause of an event.
