These systems are not substitutes in every situation
Ring Alarm is a contact-and-motion sensor system. The Reolink kit provides four wired cameras and a local recorder. An alarm installation starts with protected openings and an arming routine; a camera installation starts with sightlines and recording needs. Compare them against the problem you are trying to solve instead of treating the number of devices as a score.
What would you need after an event?
If you want to know that a protected entry point was opened, an alarm sensor is relevant. If you need to inspect what happened in view of a camera, recorded video is relevant. Neither tells you everything about the property. Sketch the blind spots in each plan and decide whether the missing information matters for your situation.
Installation creates different responsibilities
Sensors need suitable placement and ongoing battery checks. A wired camera system needs cable routes and a protected recorder location. Think through maintenance, household changes and who can access each system. Do not install equipment somewhere you cannot inspect it safely, and follow the supplied instructions for the exact components.
Compare recurring services separately
For Ring Alarm, review the Canadian subscription and enrollment requirements for the features you intend to use. The Reolink recorder does not turn camera alerts into Ring professional alarm monitoring. If monitoring is part of your plan, establish who is receiving an event and what response they can provide. Buying a camera or a recorder alone does not arrange emergency dispatch.
Our decision framework
Consider the Ring kit for an entry-sensor plan with a clear alarm-response routine. Consider the Reolink kit for a wired video-recording plan that fits its environmental limits. Using both can serve complementary purposes, but do not assume direct device integration. Make a list of required features, equipment and ongoing services, then confirm each against the current Canadian listing and manufacturer documentation.
